Movie Making in Mayo
Keith has been the driving force for a Film Board to promote Mayo as a venue for filming. His work in this area has so far culminated in the establishment of a contact office for film making in the Community Development Directorate of Mayo County Council. Keith has also work closely with recent filming in the county such as RTE's The Last Furlong and the Feature Film Secret of the Cave
Keith continues to work towards the establishment of a film office for Mayo. Keith successfully argued for Westport Town Council to establish a €7,500 fund to promote Westport Town as a venue for filming.
Keith is currently working with the Local Authorities, film makers and the Irish Film Board to bring more film making to Mayo and Westport.
Heritage Inventory for Westport
Keith also steered a €5,000 provision for a Heritage Inventory for Westport through Westport Town Council's 2006 budget. The Inventory will be an invaluable aid for the protection of the heritage of Westport.
Barcelona Committee
Keith also pushed for the establishment of a Barcelona Committee for Westport and works closely with the representatives of Westport's disabled community and with organisations such as the Family Resource Centre to improve access in the town.
Unwaged Discounts
Keith had lobbied councillors and management for a discount for Unwaged and Single Income families for Westport Leisure Park which is owned by the Town Council. The discounts were introduced in 2005
Northwoods Replanting
A provisional grant has been approved for the Replanting of the Northwoods. Keith was on the original committee which brought this grant proposal to the council A major condition of the grant is the involvement of the neighbouring estates in the replanting of the woodland.
Keith has been a campaigning for the replanting of the area for several years, beginning with a petition he took up in 1999 protesting about the deforestation of the Northwoods area.
